Formed in 2020, Blü Egyptian are a five-piece group from Chico in Northern California, who met at the Recording Arts program in high school. They play “World Music” with latin rhythms, incendiary guitar leads and soul/funk influences from bands like Santana, Phish, String Cheese Incident and the Grateful Dead. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the band has been recording and performing live at their rehearsal space they named the “Sound Lounge.” They have played locally at The Barn at Meriam Park, The Foodies Café and The Union Restaurant.
Don Jules wrote and arranged the songs from their debut EP “Lötus,” released on Jan. 23, 2021. The songs were recorded, mixed and mastered by Dale Price of Electric Canyon Recordings. The band is planning to tour this summer and will be continuing to stream live performances and play out locally. They also play acoustic every Saturday morning at the Chico's Farmer’s Market. The band will continue to record and plan for a full album release later this year.
